It's four am, we have wrapped 45 presents (we ran out of tape after the first 5, and wrapping paper after about 15 we are learning to be very creative), 4 tired girls climbed into our sleeping bags. An hour and a half later we had a gentle
“tap tap tap Merry Christmas!”
“Pi Kayla Pi Anna Pi Elisa Pi Mae Merry Christmas!”
With 50 people gathered in our eating room the children dug into their presents.
But thats not even the best part- They said thank you, the young boys throughly enjoy their slinkies and the girls already have painted nails. But that didn't matter.
A few hour later we were gathered again, in the same room going up to the microphone one by one to say in front of the church what we are thankful for.
This blog could turn into a "we need to be less materialistic and focus more on Chrsit."
But honestly, in the end that doesn't matter.
I am glad we are blessed in the United States. I am glad I have a family who loves me, clothes that are new, food that is delicious, even this Mac, which has become my 2nd best friend on this trip. God has blessed us immensely so what does this mean now?
I was sitting in Church this when Mae stole the bible I was reading and randomly underlined this verse.
"Give to everyone who begs from you….if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is it to you? Even sinners do the same…. do good and lend, expecting nothing in return… and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind to the ungrateful and the evil." –Jesus
So celebrate Christmas this year, get presents, enjoy the blessinsg the Lord has given you.
But also respond to the commands of Jesus,
Give, do good, lend, and be kind to the evil and ungrateful.
"For this is how they will know you are my disciples, if you love…"
